and\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 safety\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 regulations.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 These regulations govern the handling, generation, storage and management of hazardous substances, including how these substances are released or discharged into the air, water, surface and subsurface.\u00a0 These laws and regulations often require permits and approvals from various agencies before Gulfsom Ltd can commence or modify its operations or facilities, and on occasion require the preparation of an environmental impact assessment or study (which can result in\u00a0\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0 imposition\u00a0\u00a0 of\u00a0\u00a0 various\u00a0\u00a0 conditions\u00a0\u00a0 and\u00a0\u00a0 mitigation measures) prior to or in connection with obtaining such permits.<\/p><h3><a name=\"_Toc168336759\"><\/a>EHS Policy<\/h3><p>The\u00a0\u00a0 EHS\u00a0\u00a0 Policy\u00a0\u00a0 outlines Gulfsom Ltd\u2019s principles of environmental stewardship, maintaining safe and healthy workplaces for its employees, contractors\/Stakeholders\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 host\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 communities plus ensuring compliance with environment, health and safety legislation, regulations and recognized industry standards. Gulfsom Ltd has direct responsibility for environmental, health, safety and security matters for controlled areas, where Gulfsom Ltd is the technical services provider. Gulfsom Ltd has implemented policies and operates an auditable management system. Environment, Health and Safety The EHS Policy and other corporate policies are an important part of the responsibilities of the managers of Gulfsom Ltd and significantly influence the operations of Gulfsom Ltd. Gulfsom Ltd proactively engages its operators through its EHS committees and active participation in EHS programs &amp; events.\u00a0 Although Gulfsom Ltd is a non-operated company, it influences and works closely with its partners to ensure that the environment is preserved through mainly conducting Environmental Studies (EIAs &amp; EER), Environmental Monitoring programme to check for compliance and monitoring of operational activities such as oil spills &amp; gas flaring trends and patterns.
